The First Thing I Learned
When I was beginning my journey as a chocolate maker, the very first game-changing lesson I learned was... ๐ Just start. ๐ With one.
I had a goal of making a pack of six mini, single origin chocolate bars all wrapped cute in a little stack. Yet, I didn't even have one product available to sell.
At the time, this was a huge revelation for me because I could see that the first step to getting to my intended product was to start and make one great bar. The dream of a six pack of bars was great, but expecting that this would be the first product was keeping me stuck.
These wise words were from my father, these words freed me to move forward.
A week later we had our first Belize chocolate bar wrapped in black and white wrapping paper and available to buy at our local little artisan bread shop, Falls Baking.
Even though Iโve learned so much since then and come so far, I still think of that lesson often because it reminds me that baby steps are often the best way to move forward.
You donโt have to have all the answers to start. You just have to start!
